hi there,
does anyone know how to get to heathrow airport from W1 but not by train? I am unable to take my elderly parents to the airport from their hotel so would like to book something for them, like maybe a taxi or mini cab but need some ideas and maybe a good recommendation. thanks.

When to find accommodation deals (03/08/2010)
|
I have recently visited turkey and the accommodation services are really nice. The location of villas are really refreshing and close to nature because of diversity in climate and environment too. The majestic mountains of turkey are re ally great and adventurous for hikers and skiers..

It will be arriving at Heathrow at 6.00 AM , so I have the day in London.
Flying out at 5.30 PM. Looks like the Express is the way to go.
RT , Paul what do you suggest In that short of time to visit, I'm not that found of Museum.
I guess the most accessible and easiest sights to get to. Or maybe I should
just do a 1/2 day sight seeing tour. Any ideas at this point would be well
received.

Good tips when travelling to United Kingdom (02/10/2010)
|
One tip is to make sure you have enough money. UK is not cheap and make sure to have a credit card or two on hand.
Some warm gloves and a few layers of clothing also in January, I guess you have visited now. Januray was real cold!!!!.

Edinburgh weekend (02/09/2010)
|
I left for 5 months to live in Los Angeles, but other than that I've been here for 40 years and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Regularly walk around, through, over the city and love the views, the architecture, the people, the buzz, the culture. Exciting and busy when the Festivals are on in the summer and at Christmas/New Year, dreary and driech when the rain comes down, but never boring. Always something to do and somewhere cosy to have a coffee with friends..

Ask me anything about Edinburgh (02/09/2010)
|
Don't forget to consider apartment rentals. Many offer stays from 2 or 3 nights and if you're travelling in a family group they can be a good alternative to hotels. Sites like Edinburgh-Flats and Edinburgh-holiday-Rentals list many properties which might be worth a look..

Been to Fife, Scotland? (02/09/2010)
|
Yes to The Doll's House, and the Anstruther Fish Bar.
For celebrations meals we love the Seafood Restaurant in St Monan's. There is another one in St Andrews, but we like St Monan's better.
For family gatherings we loved the Grillhouse in St Andrews - something for everyone, young and old.
Lunchtimes: St Andrews Farmhouse Cheese Company near Pittenweem, Heron Gallery in Pittenweem, Honeypot Tea Room in Crail, Cafe at Cairnie Farm where you can pick your own Fruit too in the summer, Farm Cafe ...

Can anyone recommend a UK house swap site? (02/09/2010)
|
If you are in the fortunate position of owning a Holiday Home, then we've just started using Exchange Holiday Homes. Debbie and Mark have been very helpful in arranging a swap. We welcomed our first guests here in Edinburgh in December, and we're looking forward to going to a home in the Lake District next Easter. It probably works best in the low season though - we were not willing to let our property out when we knew we could secure paying guests..

Where is a good family destination in the UK? (02/09/2010)
|
I've visited Center Parcs in Whinfell Forest, Cumbria several times. Experience has been mixed. The facilities are good, but did feel that it was a bit on the pricey side. It worked well for us when we took lots of our own food and avoided the restaurants on-site. We've been there in family groups and it's a great place to 'hang out' with the family, with activities available for old and young. But when groups of 12+ of us went out for meals together it was sometimes hours before we were ...

best tourist spot in the UK? (02/09/2010)
|
Hill climbing in the middle of the city. Extinct volcanoes. Art Galleries galore. Haggis hunting (a pub lunch anyone?) . Poetry engraved in the walls of the parliament. Shopping for 21st Century kilts, bagpipes, and sporrans. Festivals and frolics. Ghosts and an Underground City. Camera Obscura, Dynamic Earth. Botanic Gardens. Christmas Festival. Hogmanay. Oh and so far I haven't mentioned Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh Zoo, Palace of Holyroodhouse, Theatres, Cinemas, Cafes, Bars, ...

Which London hotel is your favourite? (02/03/2010)
|
Tower Bridge Hotel for me too - amazing views of Tower Bridge, right on the River Thames where we used the ferry taxis to get to Greenwich and the London Eye, next door was the Tower of London and St Katherines Dock with an amazing restaurant on a boat (don't know if still there as this was 2005). For a large hotel no complaints, rooms clean and spacious, breakfast excellent and if you're lucky you will get a view of Tower Bridge..

Scotland or Cornwall (02/02/2010)
|
That's certainly a toughie!
A couple of years ago I went on a cruise between Edinburgh and Glasgow (a canal cruise that is) and it was absolutely amazing! I have to say all the people we met along the way and at all the small villages, towns and cities that we visited were the friendliest and most helpful people I've ever met!
The scenery is fantastic and seeing the Crown Jewels was good too.
Although you can have some fantastic weather in Scotland be prepared for some not-so-warm weather. ...

Best way to get to Scottish Highlands? (01/27/2010)

Ah... this makes sense now. You're not in Inverness as you claim. You're in fact posting from India.
