Guides in Isreal (03/10/2010)
I'm considering a holiday in Israel later this year, after the big holidays in September. I'm not having really good luck looking for guides (as in the person kind, not guidebooks) offering day trips around Bethlehem or Jerusalem or much else. I know they're out there. It might just be me....it may be 2 or 3 of us. Any suggestions for where to locate individuals or businesses that provide guides to very small groups? I don't want to travel in a mob...but would like someone knowledgeable..

I have been fortune enough to travel in the Middle East a fair bit and to be honest Dubai offers very little in the way of Middle Eastern Culture.... however I loved the place! It's is a great mix of people, beaches and buildings. Though there is extensive building work going on (all seems to have been) the results are pretty amazing with some of the most stunning buildings in the world....the sea and the beaches are pretty good to! I'm not massively into Water Parks but Wild Wadi, near the ...

Favorite places in the Middle East (01/15/2010)
It's a desert, but what a desert! A rather flat desert floor surrounded by towering spires and odd looking rock formations. The light at sunset and sunrise will help any slacker photo-tourist to get into Japanese multi-exposure shutter mode. There are a few bedouine camps where you can spend the night. I stayed at the Sunset Camp run by Mohammed Sabah Al-Zalabeh. For some pictures and contact info to Mohammed, click here: http://www.guidebook.se/?p=458.

Depending on where you are going in Saudi Arabia. Jeddah (the port city) Ryiadh, you sould be fine as long as you have a male companion with you. Makkah i think you only enter if you are a muslim. Saudi also have a few islamic festivals and lots of people travel to saudi each year. and some twons and area ...

The only port in Jordan, and the only access to the Red Sea with it's beautiful corals and fish. Its four hours drive from Amman, has lots of hotels and diving centers. It was used as a port at the time of the Nabataeans, and ships even from China used to bring goods to its port, Aqaba now is an economical free zone, being a tax free zone makes it unexpensive for shopping..

Responsible Tourism In Israel (11/30/2009)
There are some new organization in the North of Israel who offer a responsible tourism: Responsible for the environment and for the cultures and local communities. If you plan to visit Israel for 10 days trip you should spend atleast 3 nights at the Galilee which is much more interesting then any other part of Israel. Jerusalem has the great history and Tel Aviv has the great beach but both of them cannot match the diversity of landscapes , cultures , sites , activities and accommodation. You ...
